Mountain View Emergency Shelter Foundation

The Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society Building Fundraiser - 2023

The Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society (MVESS) does not currently have a physical space for adults and children escaping family violence. Since 2019, Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate has held an annual event in May,to raise money to help build a greatly needed, Emergency Shelter in Mountain View County. The last three years have seen this event take the shape of a Radio-Thon which has been generously hosted by 96.5 CKFM.  The last 2 years have seen the addition of an on-line auction, which has been very generously sponsored and run by Olds Auction Mart. Both of these events have seen phenomenal support from the communities of Mountan View County and beyond.  We are so grateful to the businesses and individuals who have supported these events, through sponsorship, donations, auction participation and volunteering.

On May 10,2023, Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate hosted our 3rd Annual Radio-Thon with support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, for the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Building Project. 100 % of the money raised through this event was directed back to the MVESS, as the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation covered all administrative costs associated with donations.

Through this year's event and the incredible gifts in the way of donation matching up to $50,000 each, from Mr Jim Thomson and also the Rotary Club of Olds, $150,000 was added to the MVESS Building Project account this year! This amount, plus money that was previously raised/ donated and come from other sources, means that constuction of the shelter is starting very shortly!

The following 12 businesses each sponsored an hour of the Radiothon in 2023:

  • Aarlan Home Inspections
  • A Gallery of Floors
  • Forest Heights Golf Course
  • Hildebrand Motors
  • Kolb's Fine Meats and Sausage
  • Mortgage Architects
  • Olds Community Pharmacy
  • Rempel's Painting
  • Rosehill Livestock Service
  • Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate
  • Sundre Home Hardware
  • Westview Co-Op

In addition we want to sincerely thank Olds Electric, Ultimate Safety and Rockies Helis Canada for their continued sponsorship. Our thanks also goes to the Olds Sign Shop and Mountain View Publishing for their sponsorship, and also our amazing team of volunteers who all made this event possible!

We are so grateful for the ongoing committment and support for the MVESS Building Project through our Radio-Thon.  Along with the combined efforts of all of you who participated in any way, (Sponsors, Donors, Auction Bidders, Volunteers etc) we will help make a long term difference to those needing a safe place to go, in order to escape family violence, in Mountain View County. Thank you all!
